How to Use Imavault
Imavault offers three free, privacy-first image tools. All processing happens entirely in your browser – your photos never leave your device.
Face Blur Tool
Automatically detect and blur faces in photos using AI. Edit blur areas manually and download instantly.
- 1
Upload your photo
Click the upload area or drag and drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP file (up to 20 MB). You can upload up to 20 images at once for batch processing.
- 2
AI detects faces automatically
Imavault's AI scans the image and instantly draws blur boxes around every detected face. Each detected face is highlighted with a dashed blue border.
- 3
Adjust blur areas
Drag any blue box to move it. Drag the corner handles to resize it. To add a blur area manually, drag directly on the image or click '+ Add blur area'. Use the blur strength slider to make the effect stronger or softer — each image in multi-image mode has its own independent setting.
- 4
Download your blurred image
Click 'Download' to save the finished image as a JPEG. When working with multiple images, use 'Download All (ZIP)' to save everything at once.
Tips
- Faces not detected? Drag directly on the image to draw a manual blur box over the area you want to hide.
- Each image in multi-image mode has its own independent blur strength — useful when some faces are close-up and others are in the background.
- Processing is 100% local. Your images are never sent to any server.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. All face detection and blurring runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly and Canvas. Your photos never leave your device.
What if the AI misses a face?
You can manually draw a blur box by dragging directly on the image. You can also resize or move any existing box by dragging its edges or corner handles.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes. Upload up to 20 images at once. Switch between them using the thumbnail strip and download all blurred images as a single ZIP file.
Image Compressor
Reduce the file size of JPEG, PNG, and WebP images with a live size comparison.
- 1
Upload your images
Upload one or more images (up to 20 at once, each up to 20 MB). Imavault supports JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats.
- 2
Choose format and quality
Select the output format: JPEG (best for photos), PNG (lossless, great for graphics with text), or WebP (modern, smallest file size). For JPEG and WebP, drag the quality slider. Higher quality means a larger file; lower quality means a smaller file.
- 3
Resize (optional)
Check the 'Resize' checkbox to scale the image down. Enter a target width in pixels — the height is calculated automatically to preserve the original aspect ratio.
- 4
Download
Click the download icon next to any image to save it individually. When compressing multiple images, click 'Download All (ZIP)' to save everything in one file.
Tips
- WebP typically produces 25–35% smaller files than JPEG at the same visual quality. Most modern browsers support it.
- PNG is lossless — quality never degrades, but file sizes are larger. Use PNG for screenshots, logos, or images with transparency.
- The live size display (Original → Compressed) updates automatically as you adjust quality or format.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which format should I choose?
JPEG is best for photos. WebP gives the best compression for the web. PNG is ideal for images that need transparency or must stay lossless.
Does compressing reduce image quality?
JPEG and WebP are lossy — some quality is reduced based on the slider. A quality of 80–90 usually gives a great balance. PNG is lossless (no quality loss ever).
How many images can I process at once?
Up to 20 images per session, each up to 20 MB.
Image Editor
Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, apply filters, crop, rotate, flip and sharpen photos.
- 1
Upload your photo
Click the upload area or drag and drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP photo. The image is displayed on a canvas ready for editing.
- 2
Adjust brightness, contrast & saturation
Use the sliders in the right panel to fine-tune your photo. Brightness lightens or darkens the image overall. Contrast increases or reduces the difference between light and dark areas. Saturation controls color intensity — drag left to desaturate.
- 3
Apply a filter preset
Choose from 5 instant filter presets: B&W (black and white), Sepia (warm vintage tone), Vintage (faded retro look with hue shift), Vivid (boosted colors and contrast), Cool (blue-toned with subtle brightness). Click any preset to apply it instantly.
- 4
Rotate, flip & sharpen
Use the ↺/↻ buttons to rotate 90° left or right. Flip the image horizontally (↔) or vertically (↕). The Sharpness slider increases crispness (positive values) or adds a soft blur effect (negative values).
- 5
Crop and download
Click '✂ Crop' to enter crop mode. Drag on the image to select the area you want to keep — a rule-of-thirds grid guides your composition. Click Download to save the final photo as a high-quality JPEG.
Tips
- Click 'Reset All' at any time to restore the image to its original state.
- Brightness and contrast adjustments stack with filter presets for fine-tuned results.
- Negative sharpness values add a soft-focus blur effect — useful for portrait smoothing or dreamy looks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What format is the downloaded file?
The edited image is downloaded as a high-quality JPEG (92% quality). The original upload can be JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
Can I use filters and sliders at the same time?
Yes. Filter presets and brightness/contrast sliders work together. The saturation slider is disabled when a color preset is active, since the preset already controls color.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes. Imavault is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers. All controls including sliders, rotation, and flip are touch-friendly.
